Tomorrow we start our vacation. I probably won't be posting much while I am gone, but I will try to pop in at least a few times. I will at least be reading your blogs as much as possible.
We are roadtripping. With two kids. Besides the obvious - clothes, snacks, diapers, I am bringing the following:
DVD Player with 10 movies
Coloring Books
Mini Magna doodle
some trucks/cars
Soft toys for Maggie
This is for the car. We are not driving more than three hours at a time, and are hoping to allow PJ to run around for half an hour when we stop.
Any suggestions? Any thing else we should bring with? Comment away, and I'll miss you all.
I have no advice of my own, but I did read another blog (I can't remember which) that they only stopped at gas stations that had a redbox, and they got a new movie each time. Their kids liked it because they hadn't already seen it, plus you can return redbox movies to any redbox, not just the one you got it from.
ReplyDeletealcohol. lots of alcohol. ;) i kid, of course. as much as i LOVE me a good roadtrip, i can honestly say i do not envy you on this one. :) don't forget a camera and batteries so that you can blog about the awesome times you had in the car!
ReplyDeleteWe are leaving tomorrow too but not traveling as far! I'll wish you luck on your adventure!
ReplyDeleteWhat about stuff for YOU? Magazines, books, earplugs? Safe travels!
ReplyDeleteThat Redbox idea is cool!
ReplyDeleteThis isn't for now, but when they're older. My parents used to do this and I want to also. We would get a quarter for every 1/2 hour that we were good while in the car. Then we got to spend it on a souvenir from the trip. My parents never bribed us with money so it was always such a special treat! Pays for itself b/c you'd probably buy them a souvenir anyway and there's a reason to be good!
I like the alcohol and earplugs ideas!
ReplyDeleteHave a fun trip!
When I took Alice to Boston (by myself ~23 weeks pregnant) it was pretty easy. We stopped every 2-3 hours when she was awake.
ReplyDeleteBring Tylenol/ibuprofen. Benadryl--just in case. Pack a cooler with water, juice, etc. Pack snacks (I packed lunch stuff too). I brought colorwonder stuff to help occupy her time. And keep a spare outfit or two in easy reach. Inevitably, someone will have a leak ;-)
We'll miss you too! I'm going with the alcohol idea...only after you arrive. If you drink in the car, you'll have to pee too much!
