Time.
It's fickle.
When you would do anything for time to pass by quickly, like at work, it takes forever.
When you would do anything for time to slow down, stop moving so fast, it's gone in the blink of an eye.
I don't have enough time.
I spend 10 hours of my day commuting to/from and being at work. I spend one hour in the morning (less, because the kids sleep later than I do) with PJ and Maggie, and 2-4 hours with them at night.
Because spending time with them is the most important and best thing I do with my day, I run out of time to do other things.
Dishes.
Shave my legs.
Clean.
Watch tv.
I'm not complaining. I would much rather hang out with them than do any of those things. I just wish I had TIME to do them as well.
I wish I had time to get everything I need for Maggie's party, without the kids, in a matter of hours instead of splitting it up over a few days because that's the only way it will work.
I wish I had time to go visit two of my oldest friends who gave birth over the weekend, and meet their new joys and see them.
I wish I had time to go back and have more mother-daughter dates with my mom before she got sick.
I wish I had time to go out for dinner on a random Tuesday with my girlfriends.
I wish I had time to go out for drinks on a random Thursday with my husband.
Time is not your friend. No matter what, when you look at any given day, you can say "I can't believe that was XX years ago, or I can't believe he's already XX years old."
I said that when PJ was 1. Now I'll say it again because he's almost 3.
I said it on Monday when Maggie turned 1. I said it when she was 6 months.
I need to embrace the time. Make the most of the time I have and do whatever I can to make my kids, my husband and me happy in that time.
Yesterday is History...Tomorrow is a Mystery...Today is a Gift
beautiful post by beautiful you. :) <3
ReplyDeleteTime really does go by so quickly.
ReplyDeleteSo very true! Time is always slipping away...and it's hard to remember to just enjoy things today without thinking of tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteSo true. I'm a stay-at-home and work-from-home mom and there are never, never enough hours in the day with a job and two kids!
ReplyDeleteOh if i could just stop time, or go back and have a redo of so many things ... too many in fact.
ReplyDeleteI stay home and wish I had more time as well. I've never been so busy in my entire life. Some days time seems to be going so slow, but then I blink and wow, Donut is 9 months old.
ReplyDeleteEven though I'm at home I still feel like I never have enough time. I feel like our lives are rushed and I just want it to slow down.
ReplyDeleteI guess we need to learn to live in the moment and enjoy it as it comes.
Great post! That's so true about time. It seems to never be on your side but like you said, we need to learn to embrace it.
ReplyDeleteI love your last line. Absolutely true- it is so important to embrace your time. Exactly what I needed to read. xoxo
ReplyDeleteI wish you had all of this too...
