This is what I am making for dinner tonight. They are so damn good. And so easy, thanks to my handy-dandy crockpot. I cannot wait to get home and eat them, and then I get to eat them AGAIN for lunch tomorrow! Yay me!
My beautiful little girl decided to get up at 515 today. Not sure why. Probably had something to do with the damn dog, but then of course she was fast asleep again by the time we left the house. She also woke up twice to eat, which is weird. Still a growth spurt? Perhaps. Going to try to keep her up till 730 tonight. :)
PJ is just amazing. Everyday I look at him in amazement at how smart he is; at the things he's figured out. For instance, he likes grabbing one of the XBox controllers when John is playing. I took the batteries out of the back, but he wanted the case the batteries go in. I gave it to him. Within minutes, he'd figured out how to snap the back back on the controller. He understand when we ask him to get something, and he always gets the right thing. He puts our shoes away where they go, knows where the hot dogs, cheese, pretty much any thing he likes to eat is. He's so adorable and smart. He gives hugs and kisses, and blows kisses goodbye. He says hi and bye to everyone he can and is such a good big brother. And he is OFFICIALLY in 2T clothes. Have I mentioned that? :)
It looks like I might have scared off the rude poster. No comment on the call out. Of course, I'm pretty sure I know who it is. A little birdy told me.

Hey "Packer Fan".
Why don't you have some balls and tell me who you are? Your karma comment was just so classy.
If you have something to say, how about you grow a pair.
Other readers -- someone posing as "anonymous" and then "Packer Fan" has been leaving comments of an inappropriate nature. I feel they are the same person, and I would like them to step up and say who they are. Otherwise, shut the fuck up.

Monday
Disclaimer: I do not, in any way, wish to speak about the events that transpired yesterday, neither now, 5 minutes from now, 5 months from now, etc.
It's Monday.
My husband. Is being. A complete. Asshole. If I try to say something, I get "My DAD just died. Why cant' you be nicer to me?" I have been nice. I am just going to have grin and bear it. I know this is the hardest thing he's ever gone through. I just don't see how being an asshole to me makes it better. Sigh.
So let's talk about better things. My happiness. PJ is now officially in 24 months/2T clothing. All his 18 month stuff is too short -- some of the pants are still okay but all of the shirts show off his belly at the slightest movement. My big guy. My baby girl is just always smiling and happy. However, PJ has been waking up FREAKING out the past few nights, and of course last night they both woke at the same time, and when THAT happens, no one goes back to sleep for awhile. Good time. I hope he's okay tonight. I don't know if he's having bad dreams, or what. But I want it to stop and him to go back to sleep.
Maggie's Christening is Sunday. Rescheduled, of course. I'm looking forward to seeing my pretty girl all dressed up. Hopefully she doesn't cry the whole time like her big brother did. At least it will be a time of celebrating. I know her godparents are very excited about it. It's nice to see people care so much.
Oh, and one thing I've learned about all this. It is much, much easier to deal with death when you have some idea it's coming. It sucks seeing my mom this way, but at least I won't be shocked when she dies. John was shocked. The emotion of shock, on top of everything else, makes it much more difficult to deal.

Um, the Game of the Century is Sunday
So. The Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup last year. PJ was born during a Hawks game and just a little over a year later, they won the Stanley Cup.
Maggie was born on the day of a Bears game. A game they won. So the Bears are going to win the Super Bowl just a few months later. Why? Because it's the 25th Anniversary of Super Bowl XX. Because beating the PACKERS en route to a Super Bowl Championship is the sweetest taste of victory one can have.
Oh, and because we need a little happiness in the O'Gara Family. And this would bring MOUNDS of happiness.
Anyway, PJ's added a couple two word sentences to his vocabulary. Hi Mama! Hi Dog! Shoes off! Mama Yum! Kee-kees! (Cookies). He's so fricking adorable I can't stand it. My happiness.
Miss Maggie is by far one of the happiest babies ever. You just look at her and she smiles. She's so cute. She's so strong holding her head up like such a big girl. My happiness.
So we will be watching the Bears erase the Packers on Sunday. Bringing it on home to Chicago. Bearing down. With that 12th player on the field.

RIP, FIL
Johnny's dad passed away on Friday. His body simply couldn't fight anymore. We lost him at 12:44 p.m.
My husband has been a symbol of strength for his sister, his grandmother, for himself. He says he feels weak, but he is strong. He is devastated and having a hard time accepting that he can't joke about the weather with his dad, that he can't call them when the Bears beat the Packers on Sunday (which they will), that he can't ask for advice when he needs it. However, he says he feels that his dad is still guiding him, and helping him and I feel that he is too.
The past few days have been rough. The outpouring of love and support from our friends, family, and extended family has been overwhelming. There was never a lull in the people paying their respects to Pop. Our friends have stepped up in ways I could not even begin to explain. And althoug they will never read this, John Blair, Steve Blair, and Mike Simmons -- you have no idea how much you have helped Johnny through this. You are fantastic friends and we are forever lucky to have you as part of our lives.
Myself, I am having a hard time. It hurts me to see Johnny hurting so much. Especially since I can't take the pain away or make it better. I am also having all kinds of thoughts about my mom and things that are going to be happen with her. Terry came to the funeral, and it was weird to see him without my mom -- this was the first time I'd seen him somewhere without her. And it was rough.
Johnny finally understands how I feel when I say my mom is gone. She's physically still here, but she's not here. I can't call her for advice, or do anything with her anymore. If anything, I think this will help him help me get through the inevitable end that is coming soon.
PJ and Maggie have been the reason we have been able to get through this. No matter how sad John was, PJ would giggle or Maggie would smile and they would put a smile on his face. Children are the best way to cheer you up.
Pop, thank you for raising the wonderful man I married. Thank you for treating me as a daughter and for loving our children with all you had. I know the pride and love you had for all of us and I will never, ever forget that.
I hope you keep looking down on us. And make sure you're hanging out over Soldier Field on Sunday.
Good-bye, Pop.

Babes, and other stuff, but not happy stuff
Good night of sleeping for miss Maggie last night. Good thing too.
My FIL is back in the hospital. There's a laundry list of things that are wrong with him, and things that could be wrong with him, so I'll save it till we have an answer.
I never thought, at 31 years old, when I have two small children, that the imminent death of not only my own mom, but my husband's dad wou.ld be something to be concerned about. My grandmother was 82 when she died. John's grandma was 77, and he still has his other three grandparents, all nearing 80. Their children are in their 50s. Why do we have to worry about this in our 30s??
I'm amazed my FIL is still around, to be honest. It defies logic. It also infuriates me that the things that are wrong with him he did to HIMSELF, whereas my mom is suffering from what I am convinced is the worst disease you can possibly have. Through no fault of her own. Through no ability to prevent, treat or cure ALS. I've seen her go from the never stopping, always doing something, spunky mom that I had to someone who cannot move at all on her own, barely can speak, and has wittled down to 93 pounds in less than two years. And I have to know that she KNOWS what is going on. It's the worst fucking disease out there. I get the cancer is bad. I get that other diseases are bad. But not only is ALS so fucking terrible, there's no funding for it. There's no research, because the government doesn't think enough people have it. Nice.
If my mom is here one year from today, I'd be beyond surprised. The Universe has shit on us for awhile -- we've gotten some amazing things too -- our wonderful, amazing, phenomenal kids. PJ and Maggie are the world to both of us. I honestly don't think we'd have gotten through any of the bullshit without them. But we've lost a baby, we've lost Neo, our dear dog, my mom got diagnosed with ALS, John's dad has so many things wrong with him. I just hope, Universe, that you don't decide to take my mom and John's dad around the same time. Because that would just be the cruelest punishment for two people who really, really don't deserve it.

Um, I'm back. Sorry for the delay....
So. I'm back at work, able to use a computer without having to feed a baby, let a toddler sit on my lap and push all the keys, and have a few minutes to say HEY!
Here is the beautiful Maggie Marie. Born 10/10/10 (how's that for awesomeness) at 8:02 p.m. Yes, we missed being celebrities by 2 hours and 8 minutes. Oh well.

Maggie had some issues in the first month of her life, mostly sleeping but we discovered our little girl had reflux, and since then things have been good. Except for the past three or four nights when she suddenly STOPPED STTN and making Mommy tired. But that's okay, because I'm chalking it up to the three month growth spurt.
PJ is a fabulous big brother, as you can see here:
He's very good with Maggie, always tries to put a blanket on her, shushes us when she's sleeping, tries to give her his sippy cup, you know the good stuff.
PJ is almost 2. Yes, that's right. My first happiness is going to be TWO YEARS OLD. When the fuck did that happen?? Seriously. He says so many words now. Let's see.
Mama
Dada
Hot (and he's correct when he tells you something is hot)
Uh-oh
Yum
Door
Down
Manny (for Handy Manny)
Roar (for his dinosaur)
Juice
Cheese
Hi
Fish
Dog
I am sure there are more, but I can't think of them right now. He also is understanding more and more every single day. Still waiting for I love you. Hopefully it comes soon because I am going to melt when he finally does say it.
Maggie rolls over from tummy to back. She also smiles a ton, and is generally a happy baby. Hopefully this sleeping thing is just a phase. She's not napping well during the day either, apparently. So who knows? But baby girl needs more sleep than she's been getting the past few days. I'm thinking it's a growth spurt, and apparently 3 months babies go through a sleep transition. So if she wakes again tonight, before 3 a.m., I'm going to try and not feed her and just get her back to sleep. I'm okay with a once a night feeding, as long as little girl goes back to sleep!
I'll tell you though. A boy and a girl? I think we're done. It's hard with two -- everything is harder. Every. Single. Thing. And I love our family.
