Get stuck in the elevator.
We went to the mall to get me a new outfit for my first day of work today. Which, by the way, I got shirts but no bottoms, because man, the skirts out now are just plain boring, and what the fuck happened to NY & Company?? They used to have the cutest clothes, but now I feel like Grandma should shop there.
Anyways...
John and three of our good friends suddenly decided they want to play tennis. (Don't ask).
So he wanted to get a tennis racket, so we went to Dick's.
Our Dick's is two floors, we entered on the 2nd floor.
As he was looking at rackets, I saw some woman taking a picture of something. So I looked over the railing and saw -- Scottie Pippen.**
**If you don't know, Scottie Pippen played with the Bulls during all 6 championship runs and was Jordan's right hand man. Kind of a big deal here in Chicago.
"Babe, that's Scottie Pippen. There's like 5 people in line, let's go get his autograph!"
So we head over to the elevator, because we have the stroller.
We get in. We move what feels like a foot and .... nothing.
We wait a couple minutes. I hit the alarm button.
Nothing.
I hit it again.
Nothing.
PJ decides he'll hit it, and is in his glory because we aren't stopping it from hitting it repeatedly.
I hit the emergency call button.
Nothing.
Finally,we have to call the store FROM INSIDE THE ELEVATOR to tell them we are stuck in the elevator.
On a 95 degree, 100% humidity day in Chicago.
They yell down they are calling the fire department.
The fire department gets down rather quickly.
While we are waiting PJ starts kicking the door.
I change two poopy diapers.
The fireman opens the ceiling access panel to talk to us, and give us water.
They lower us down. We get out.
We were probably stuck for half an hour, but it felt longer.
The store manager apologized, and gave us 50% off anything we bought.
So of course John decides the $25 racket isn't worth it and ends up getting a $70 racket.
Me?
I'll carry the fucking stroller up and down the escalator from now on.
